Stuff to do around Tulloch
Tulloch is well placed for out door activities and discovering the history of the Scottish Highlands.
Out door activities
 
Walking
Tulloch is a mecca for hill walkers of all abilities.  The Munros and Corbetts are on its doorstep for those of a vigorous disposition.  More gentle walks can be had around the nearby lochs and through the glens.
 
Tulloch is close to all the great Highland landmarks including Ben Nevis, Glen Nevis, Glen Coe, The Great Glen, Loch Ness, the Cairngorms and Glen Roy Nature Reserve. 
 
Moutain bikes and trails
Bikes can be hired at Base Camp Mountain Bikes at Laggan, which is about 20-30 minutes drive east of Tulloch.  Base Camp includes a range of moutain bike trails to suit all abilities. 
 
Tulloch is 11 miles from the Fort William Mountain Biking World Cup held every June. 
 
Skiing
The nearest skiing is the Nevis Range or Aonach Mor at Fort William and Cairngorm at Aviemore.
 
Mountain biking, archery, clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, paintballing, canoeing and kayaking are all available at Highland Activities, also at Laggan.
 
Mountaineering and rock climbing, deer stalking, fishing and horse riding can be enjoyed nearby.
 
The Highland Wildlife Park at Kingussie gives you a chance to spot wolves, wild boar, bison, red deer, pine martens and more.
 
Golf
Nearby Spean Bridge Golf Club is open to visitors.
 
Running
The annual Lochaber Marathon is on 18 April 2010.  Contact Lochaber Athletic Club for entry forms and more information.
 
A bit further afield the Baxter's Loch Ness Marathon is happening on 3 October 2010.
 
Photography
If you'd rather stalk wildlife with your camera, Nevispix organise photographer safaris in pursuit of red deer and golden eagles.
Food shopping
Roybridge Stores is the nearest grocer, 10 minutes away by train or road.  The slightly larger Spar in Spean Bridge is15 minutes by rail or road.  Fort William, 30 minutes away has supermarkets including Farm Foods, Morrison's and Tesco.
 
Eating Out
Our favourite local restaurant is Russell Restaurant, 15 minutes away by car or train at Spean Bridge.
 
Leisure activities 
Fans of the BBC's Monarch of the Glen can visit nearby Ardverikie Estate, which played the role of Glen Bogle estate in the long running series
 
At Fort William, 20 miles west, you will find the Fort William to Mallaig railway, which runs steam trains in season.  Ferries run from Mallaig to Skye.  Also Neptune's Staircase on the Caledonian Canal.
 
The open air Highland Folk Museum is 30 miles east of Tulloch, with traditional turf roofed house, a working croft with rare breed animals a 1930's Highland school and more.
 
The Dalwhinnie distilliery is about 25 miles east of Tulloch, where there are tours and a shop.
 
The Fort William Mountain Festival is in March.  It includes a programme of mountain sports, films, lectures, guided walks, worshops, exhibitions, literature, photography and music.
